Pauli

I am funny and curious, I like to eat grass and carrots and I have a good shepherd. His name is Florian and he is the best shepherd in the whole world. He loves me and is always there for me.

I also have a family: the Wolliweiß family. We are all sheep, some white, some spotted, some black. I think black and cuddly is very nice.

Background

For parents who are wondering what this Pauli has to do with Christian education:

The children will find much of what Pauli experiences in their everyday lives. However, some adventures are also very specifically sheep-orientated and creative. Pauli is not always a good boy. There are also arguments, misunderstandings, mishaps and ‘being offended’. But there is always a look ahead, reconciliation, new peace and help from the Good Shepherd.

The everyday life of a shepherd with his sheep is foreign to us in our culture. And yet the Bible speaks of this in many images. These images tell of care, protection, love and reliability. Perhaps the stories about Pauli can help to shape positive and loving images of the shepherd in children. So that when they later read about Jesus as the good shepherd in the Bible, all these beautiful images of the good shepherd will emerge in their hearts. The good shepherd Jesus is even better than I could ever describe in the stories. But it is an attempt. 🙂

Concepts

While I’m at it, I’ll tell you about two struwel-puwel-cool concepts:

Birgit has been thinking about how we KISIs can pass on the good news of God’s love to the youngest in our midst. As her own children grew up, she came up with these group lesson suggestions.

KISI Sheep

(Sheep hours)

Mums/dads with their 0-4 year olds feel most at home at the Schäfchen – that’s where I, Pauli, usually come along, and then we sing, feel, eat (yes, we little ones love to eat ;)), play and dance. The whole thing takes about 30-45 minutes per session and is intended for about 15 children with their parents.

KISI Royal

(Royal children’s lessons)

The royal children are especially for the 5-6 year olds, who can also take part without mum or dad. We really are all children of the King of the whole world: that’s why everyone dresses up as princesses and king’s sons, plays fanfares, listens to stories from the golden king’s book, makes crafts, drinks from golden cups, plays various royal children’s games and sings royal children’s songs. In this way, the truth is established in the young hearts: ‘I am accepted, precious and loved.’

EXPERIENCE

The KISI team is always on the road in Austria to tell about my adventures with the good shepherd and the other sheep: as a great puppet theatre! Cheerful, with a good message and lots of funny sing-alongs: this is how the Pauli puppet theatre presents itself at its best. For kindergartens, parishes and birthday parties.
